Dr. Maria Montessori (1870-1952) developed a new approach to learning. It is based on her belief that education must meet the needs of the whole child - mind, body and spirit - and is built on complete respect for the child. Dr. Montessori asserted that a child's capability grows from his or her own innate desire to learn rather than from adult pressure.
Dr. Montessori gained new insight into the nature of childhood learning by watching children over a number of years. She abandoned the traditional formal classroom, and created a new classroom environment scaled to the child's needs. This "prepared environment" offers children a sense of order which diminishes frustration and fosters satisfaction and self-direction.

All Montessori materials are designed with precision, and each has a specific purpose. They help the child organize her environment, develop muscular coordination and encourage the joy of accomplishment.
The children are free to move about the classroom, and to talk to others. They can work with any material they understand, or ask their teachers to introduce new materials to them. However, they may not disrupt the work of other children, or abuse the materials.

Kinderhaus Montessori Preschool provides an environment where children can explore and pursue their own learning through the use of the specially-designed Montessori materials. They develop confidence, self esteem and a lifelong love of learning. The Kinderhaus program is an exceptional foundation for the child's next step into elementary school.
